CKTV News

Hey everyone , Ben here with another blog! This weeks blog is about the CKTV News that we do every afternoon. I was here last year so it wasn't anything new, except that we do it in the afternoon instead of the morning. Just get here like you always do and start practicing. I will tell you about my experiences working there.

First, teaching others how to work the morning announcements. This isn't really a big topic, because it only really affected the first 2 days or so, anyways all of the returnees have to teach the new students how to work their jobs. It could range from 1 to 6 depending on how lazy the other returnees are. I don't know how the new students think about us teaching them, but what I can say is that they are pretty confortable with the jobs they have now. My team has to work next week, so that means the new students will have to do a whole new job, that they probably only know a few things about from observation. So I guess we have to teach them again!

Second, How has it been for me? As I said, I did it last year, so it wasn't anything new. But I did learn a few new thing. During the summer, T.V and video games rotted my brain so I forgot some things related to media. So I think the jobs I was a little shaky about was Technical Director and... that other guy that works in the room... oh i know the name... It's at the top of my head. I will see tomorrow. Anyway, I don't know what job I have tomorrow, but I hope it is an easy one so I have enough time to teach and not have to have my hands busy the whole time.

lastly, how has this worked out outside and inside of the News. When I was in my first year, I always thought that I would have random people come up to me and say",Hey! You were working the news today!" But it turns out that like a movie, no one reads the credits, so 3/4 of the people don't even know I was working, and if they do, it is rare they talk to you. The announcers are the ones who get all the credit. Again, like a movie or an actual news channel. I do have a few people come up to me and say "I saw your name in the credits at a glance." So, that's nice.

That's all I got for this blog, I am looking forward to reading the new student's blogs to see their prospective of it. Until next time, Adios!

True, most people don't stick around for the credits and you probably will not be recognized for your work on the CKTV News. However, your work IS important as we all need to work together to make it happen. If one person fails to do their job, the show won't look good or may not even end up on TV at all. If you want fame and fortune, you'll need to get a job in front of the camera!
