Fear Of Laziness

3/1/2015

Hey guys, this week's blog isn't media related. Well, actually, it is in a way. This weeks blog is about how so many people in this world are becoming lazy. And before I start this blog, I admit to being lazy. So we have to write about how we can stop from being lazy and making other people lazy. Which might be a bit hard for me.

Firstly, let me clear something, I am a lazy person in my free time. For example, if I get home from 7-8 hours of school, I want to get on some video games because I woke up at 5:30 Am and got home at 4:15 PM. I feel tired. So when my mom tells me, " Ben! Do unload the dishes!" I blow it off because I am just to tired to care. But I was raised to know that if you don't do well in school, you won't get an education, you won't go to college, and you won't get a career. So that's why, when it is school time, no matter how boring, or a waste of my time it is (Which believe me, it is 80% of the time) I. am. not. lazy.

So what can I do to stop being lazy for myself? Well, I can start by doing things around the house. I will do chores during the weekend because I didn't have school for 7 hours before hand. But I guess now that I think about it, I could maybe take an hour to catch my breath and get rested, and then I will do my chores. Other than that, I don't see anything "Lazy" that I do. You can ask the kids in media. When class starts, I get to work.

Lastly, what can I do to solve the laziness for others. Well, Mr. M's choice is shopping carts. Mine, which I see a lot, is random items left in places around the store. You know, when you see a family, and a kid goes to the mom with a toy and begs her for it, but she says no and puts it on a shelf where ever she is closest to. I actually remember going to a store and I went to grab a candy bar because my dad said I could, and I said an apple where a Reese's Bar should be, and I whispered to myself, someone made a choice here. Anyways, what I could do is put the items where they belong, if I know where it came from. Pretty short explanation huh? Well, it's pretty straight forward.

In conclusion, that is what I will do to attempt to make this world a less lazy place. I hope to see what you will be doing and see if I can relate to it. XD Well, see you guys later, Bye!

Hey guys, Ben here with another free blog, this free blog, as you can tell, is about how our PSA's were due this week. Frankly, I knew I was going to make it, and guess what... I didn't! Naw, just joking I did. And one of the first ones. I would have been first, but I didn't know how to upload to the server. So Kaden beat me to it. I was the seconds though. So really, that's all I have to say in this blog. See you guys next week. Bye! :)

4th Quarter Project

Hey everyone, Ben back with another blog, and this weeks blog is about our 4th quarter project. As you know, our PSA's were due this week,  and Mr. M told us if we were done, we should start thinking about our 4th quarter project. This is what I got so far.

Firstly, what idea am I thinking of doing? Well, I spent 2 days brainstorming, and I was thinking about doing a Expectation VS Reality video. If you don't know what that is, it is basically, whenever you do something, you expect one thing is going to happen, when really, in reality, something else happens. For example, when you wake up, you think it will be to the sound of birds, and you will feel all rested and ready for the day. When really, you wake up to the blaring of a alarm clock, and you feel worst then when you went to bed.

Seconds, am I working with someone else? Well, yes. I am working with Carter. I chose him because he was the only close friend of mine that was partnered already. I will give him credit that he did come up with that idea, but I... modified it... I might actually need someone else in the future to operate the camera when we are acting together, but I will figure that out after the script.

Lastly, has Mr. M approved this? Well, I did run this by Mr. M, and he said that he didn't like it at first because it didn't have a story line. Normally, someone would of scratched that idea because he said no, but I though it would be really funny, so I didn't give up. I sent him a video from YouTube on someone else who did a video like that, he watched it, and in the corner of my eye I knew he was enjoying it and finding it funny. After that he said I could do it, but I need to make it themed. Like in the video it was about Action Movie Expectation Vs Reality. So I said okay, and I came up with "Expectation VS Reality Average Day Of A Teen."

In conclusion, that is what I have done for 4th quarter. Pretty good I think considering that 4th quarter hasn't started yet. Well, I will see you later guys, bye!

Hey guys. Ben back with another blog, and this free blog I will be talking about CKTV News. Yes, I was working this week, and I was working Technical Directer. I think I did a good job, I messed up once when the Directer said "Switch" but she was talking about the titles, so I pressed the button, but I pressed it again and we carried on. I think that was the best week we did for our team, considering we had to put on 2 guest speakers and a video in the same day at the last minute notice. So that is my free blog, I hope you guys have a great day, and I will see you next week.

PSA Update

2/13/2015

Hey everyone, Ben here with another blog. This week, our blog is another update about my PSA. And I am really happy, because I hopefully finished my filming. I am not going to explain much in the intro, so lets get into the blog.

So, like I said, I finished filming, I hope. Last weekend, I filmed my PSA, well 90% of it. I couldn't get my parts because something was wrong with the camera, and I couldn't figure it out. The next day I found out my card was full. So I filmed that monday when I got home and finished editing at home. So what I am saying is I finished the rough draft of my PSA. If you want to see it, it is in my "Projects" section of my website, or you can watch the attached video. I am still waiting for Mr. M to review my PSA and tell me what I change or re do.

Next, I will be talking about some problems while filming and editing. I had a few small problems, nothing that could effect my PSA that much. One problem was the WIND. Like I said, I recorded on two days. The first day was fine, but the second day was really hard to film in because it was really windy. It was so bad, you couldn't hear me at all. I actually had to mute the clip and voice over it the best I could in a quite room. Another problem was the fact that since I only had limited materials for the bowl of junk, I could only film it once. So if my dad did something I didn't like, I couldn't tell him to stop because he would of already poured it in the bowl.

Lastly, what I want to do in the future. Like I said, I am still waiting for Mr. M to correct my PSA and tell me what I need to improve on. It is a rough draft, so I just hope that I don't have to re record anything because that could be chaos. So if it does come to that I will do what I can to do my best. But if it just a simple editing error (Which I hope at the least) then I can fix that. But if everything is okay, I just have to render it again in 1080p. So I want to spend Wednesday editing and changing changing changing around if needed, and on Friday, which I think is the due date, I can turn it in... I hope...

In conclusion, That is where I am at so far with my PSA, and what I hope to do in the future. I am looking forward to soon reading your blog's to see where you guys are at. Bye!

Guardians of The Galaxy

Hey guys! I bet you can tell what I just watched! Yeah yeah, Guardians of The Galaxy. If you didn't see it, you should! It is a great movie! So Lets get into why I am writing this. This movie was packed with effects, illusions, and other amazing stuff. This movie was hard to keep up with with all the explosions, and lazers. I just wonder how long it took for the editors to perfect each effect. I liked this movie because it was a mix of action and comedy. My favorite kinds of movies put in one. But really, if you didn't see it, see it.

3 Things To Make My PSA a Success

2/8/2015

Hello everyone! If you could tell by the title, this weeks blog is about three things I can do to make my PSA Successful. And I can think of 3 right off the bat that I see a lot. I want to turn it in on time, do my best on it, and make my PSA point clear and persuasive.

First, turn it in on time. This one was a really tricky one the last 2 quarters because we kept having to reschedule and actually making a decent project was hard. So it was a challenge to meet the deadline given. We did finish it in 2 days early, and we turned it in the day it was due. But I shouldn't have a problem with the PSA since it is only 30 seconds long, and since I did film most of it this weekend, I have 27 seconds already. And it is due in about 2 weeks. So I just am crossing my fingers I don't screw up.

Second, make a good PSA. Mr. M told us that no matter how good our story and message is, if we don't make the video look good, no one will care or even pay attention to it. So again, I filmed 90% of it this weekend, and I think I did a great job. Audio was clear, and the visuals were crisp. So I hope to please Mr. M with that.

Lastly, I need to make my PSA clear and persuasive. If you didn't know already, my PSA is about all the harmful chemicals inside a cigarette. So my Dad gets all these harmful things that are found inside a cigarette, and pours it inside a bowl and shows it to a boy who wants a cigarette, and shows him what he would be smoking if he had a cigarette. So I think it was clear and persuasive since it is such nasty stuff!

Radios Finished!

Hey everyone, Ben here with another free blog, and... Tristen and I did it! We finished our radios only a day late. That's bad, but I did what I could. This is really good not because it is our last Inside Scoop for this year, because I love doing those. But it is good because that means Tristen and I are officially not partners anymore! Not in the way you think... we are great friends and if he is reading this, he would feel the same way too. We are happy we aren't partners anymore because we both are those people that do better when we are alone. We aren't being held back from being told what to do, and telling people what to do. We had our own little "Celebration"

The Domino Effect

2/1/2015

Hey guys, Ben back with another blog. I am sure everyone knows what a "Domino Effect" is. Well, for this blog, we have to write about one that happened in any point of our lives. I remember this one very clearly. This happened back in 3d grade.

So in 3d grade we had a teacher that gave us Subtraction, Multiplication, and Addition "Pop Quiz's"  after recess every day. And oh my gosh I hated those. We were only given a minute to do 20 problems which included 8x4 and 72 - 21 and stuff like that. At the time I thought they were counted as grades, and I was really self conscious about my grades because I was the smart kid in the family. But they were just for fun. I didn't know that, so I always wanted to ace them. I was only in 3d grade, so I knew how to subtract, add, and do a bit of multiplication, so whenever I tried it, I got an average of 70% - 80% which isn't that bad.

So me and my table partner agreed that we would do them all at home (Because we were given the whole packet in advance) and when we got around after recess, we would just pretend to be writing stuff, and when time was up and we had to switch papers to correct it, we always got 100%. Now that I think about it we could of just written "100%" on the paper, but we were dumb. We thought we were so clever thinking of this and it worked to the end of 3d grade.

But when I got into 4th grade, I realized that I never knew how to subtract and multiply large numbers on paper in a given amount of time, so when we had a pop quiz in the beginning of the school year, I didn't get it in advanced and my table partner from the year before was in a different class, so I absolutely failed. Doesn't sound bad, huh? The bad thing was when the teacher read out scores out loud, everyone was getting 100% and 95% and it was a perfect chain of good scores, and all of a sudden you year the teacher say "Ben Murray... 45%..." And everyone turned to me and started bus laughing. I was really embarrassed.

In conclusion, I guess the moral of the story is to do the assigned work and don't cheat your education, because it will haunt you. Now that I look back it was kind of funny, but the past is the past. I decided to improve in 5th grade, and look! Now I am in Advanced Media! it was a domino effect that ended up bad, but it changed me and got me where I am now! Bye!

Hey everyone, Ben here with another blog. This blog I will be talking about radios and where I am at with that so far along with my partner. So basically, we have finished all of our scripts a while ago and we got them looked at my Mr. M. But of course we had to change and add stuff. So it's Sunday now. And radios are due Thursday.=, and I am not sure if we are even done with scripts yet. I don't know if we will make it. But I plan on recording tomorrow and having Tristen edit the 2 radios he needs to edit in the next few days because he is still learning.
